The president of the United States has fired a battlefield commanding General because of an article published by Rolling Stone magazine? Rolling Stone? Really???
Can you imagine this headline, circa 1968:

Gen. Westmoreland has been fired by President Nixon because of an unflattering article in Rolling Stone magazine. The article appeared in the latest issue between an interview with John Lennon and a profile of Jimi Hendrix.

Does anyone really believe that there isn't more to this story than we're hearing?
